The full video can be seen !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! with the crash starting around the 5:01 mark. I think I counted 12 3/4 rolls... No information on the occupants' condition, but you can only hope for the best.

The world lost another beautiful Escort.

How did I guess this was from Finland. The uploader states in the comments that they were OK.

Ouch! The comments said the Escort team was ok. But probably not without bruises and sore muscles. There are always some accidents in our local rallies but that is exceptionally bad looking.

But bad accident do happen. My coworker's brother hurt his spine couple of years ago in a rally when he crashed his 240 Volvo into a tree (or was it a telephone pole?). He managed to flatten the roof against the seats even though the car had proper cage.

My other friend did the same with an Escort 20 years ago and he still have problems walking (but he is still really fast when he is driving hard). He did have a questionable cage that was legal in those times but it wouldn't be allowed nowadays.

I used to be a occasional historic rally mechanic. I did participate in that same rally event years ago. Now the team's driver is retired and I haven't participated either. That 142 Volvo looks pretty familiar from those times.

That scenery looks pretty familiar too. But that's because 95% of rural Finland looks exactly like that.

I can never get enough of this video. Maybe it's the pure crashing sounds.

Trees/poles are my one true fear when rallying.

They are quite intimidating obstacles but another dangerous thing that we have are the deep ditches.

Our rural roads are followed by deep ditches in both sides of the road. There isn't much exceptions but the depth may vary. In some roads they are so shallow that you can step over them without much effort. But some tend to be really deep and jumping over them requires athletic capabilities.

And ditches love swallowing rally cars. If you end up into ditch with enough speed rolling your car is quite common thing to happen. And sometimes ditches do include big rocks and road construction guys decided to leave there as they were too big to move.

The ditches don't come as surprise to the driver as they are always there. But still you can do bad miscalculation and end up in one.

During winter time the ditches aren't very dangerous as they are quite soft. But then they are even more eager to suck cars into them.
